Early in the morning, when the mountain air was still cold and semi-dark, Kobri hugged her newborn baby and walked down the hard, rocky path to get him to health. The fatigue was evident on her face, but being a mother did not allow her to neglect her child’s care for even a moment. After the examination, she climbed the long path again and reached her small, simple house.
As soon as she arrived, she started working without taking a break. Today she had to install the water tap in the yard; a task that was not at all easy for a woman alone in the heart of the mountains. She put the parts of the tap together one by one, tightened the screws, bent down, stood up, and tried to bring water to her house with her callused hands.
At that moment, Qasim arrived. He saw Kobri, alone and tired, with the baby and trembling hands, struggling to install the water tap. He stepped forward, silently but with clear intentions. He stood next to Kobra and started helping. Qasim’s presence was like a support for Kobra; someone who would stay by her side even on the hardest days.
A little later, a man in a van with several bags of sand entered the yard. He emptied the sand so that Kobra could continue with the next tasks of the house. Everything was going smoothly… until suddenly Ali entered the house; this time with Qasim’s wife.
Qasim’s wife was shocked to see Qasim and Kobra together. Her gaze was full of suspicion and anger. A moment later, her voice rose. A fight began. She angrily attacked Kobra and Qasim verbally, shouting, protesting, and the small space of the mountain house was filled with tension and loud noise.
But Kobra remained silent. Not out of fear, but out of exhaustion from years of pain. She just hugged her baby and didn’t take her eyes off the ground. Qasim tried to explain, but his wife wouldn’t listen. Ali also just watched; no support, no protest, just silence.
This was not just a day of work for Cobra; it was a day when he learned that even in the heart of the mountains, his peace was always met with sudden storms. But he stood still—strong, tired, but invincible.
